How to Add Olark Live Chat to WHMCS

Olark is a nice simple chat widget that you can add to your WHMCS. One of the best things about it is that you can use an IM like AIM, Adium and GoogleTalk to chat to your customers. Best of all it’s free!

Here are some quick instructions on how to add Olark live chat to your WHMCS.

1. You will need to access your whmcs files, you can use an FTP client for this, I recommend smartftp.

2. Go to … Public_html > WHMCS (or what ever folder you have called your WHMCS, ours is billing) > Templates > Portal > Footer.tpl

3. Open Footer.tpl in a text editor

4. Paste your Olark code just above the </body> tag.

5. Save the Modified file

6. Upload it to your server.

7. Test it out. It should now appear on your WHMCS pages.

Get electronics, money, ipods, Tesco vouchers for as little as 1p?

This isnt really a make money article, its more of a freebie.

I came accross a website today, Maxbid.com. I got 3 free bids so thought i would have a go.

What is Maxbid.com?

Maxbid.com is a website offering people the chance to receive anything from Mini coopers to £50 Tesco vouchers for prices as little as 1p.

The way it works is you buy bids, these are £1.50 each or you get them for less depending on how many you buy in bulk.
You then use these bids to bid on an item of your choice. The items up for auction start at 1p and everytime someone bids the price goes up 1p.
Every time someone bids the timer goes up 1 min 30, so you need to have the current bid when the timer runs out.

Does it work?

Personally I dont know if this works, I dont think I would buy credits as its basically like a lottery, there is no skill, you just have to be lucky.

But saying that, I have referred a few people already (to get some extra credits) and one guy won 25 free bids.

Free Credits

This website is offering 3 free credits when you sign up. So potentially you have the chance of getting something like a Mini Cooper for 1p. (if you check the past winners, someone won a red mini cooper for £2.30!)

To get your free credits just go to www.maxbid.com and sign up. Please put ‘ amped ‘ as your referer :)

I have been watching a few auctions and I have seen 3 things go while I was sitting there watching them, a tv for £3.78, a ipod nano for £7.90 and £100 cash for £4.29.

So see if you can win anything with your free credits. Let me know by leaving a comment below.

Adding Affilaite Banners to Your Website

December 17, 2008 by amped

Theres quite a few people have been asking us how to add affilaite banners to their new website.
We will do this free of cost for you, but a few people want to learn how to do it themselves.

Heres what you have to do:

To get into the code for the pages:

1 - Log into your cpanel (yourdomain/cpanel)

2 - Go to ‘File Manager’

3 - Go to ‘Public_html’

You will see the website files in that folder. Remember index.html is the main page.

How to get your banner onto your website:

Copy the affilaite link code by placing your cursor at the start of the code, left click on it and hold down the mouse button, and then drag the cursor across the code until it is all highlighted. Once highlighted right click on it and select copy.

You then need to go to your cpanel and click on index.html. Click on the HTML editor link on the right.

Click on the ’source code’ button in the bottom left of the screen. Now you can see all the website code. You now need to click in the code where you want your banner to appear, right click, and select paste. This will paste your code into the website. You can now click on the ‘preview’ button (bottom left of screen) and it will show you what your website will look like.
If your banner has not appeared where you wanted it to, just click on the ’source’ button again and delete the banner code, and paste it somewhere else. Keep doing this until you are happy with the position. Once you are happy click on the ‘design button’ (bottom left) and then click the save disc ( blue disc, top left of the screen)

A few tips:

  • Always place your code below the <body> tag. Anything above this will not show up on your website.
  • If you want to place your ad below the black menu bar you need to paste your code just below <div id=“content”>
  • If you want it to appear at the bottom of the page, place your code just before <div id=“footer”>
  • To center the ad, place <center> before your code and <center/> after your code.
  • If you have messed up the page and want to start again just close the editor page and click on the editor again. NEVER save the edited page unless you are happy with it.

Get Paid Every Time you Make a Search On Google!

Everyone would like money for nothing! I found something that does just that!….

I stumbled across this website last week, done a bit (well quite alot) of research on it and it seems genuine enough.

The website has partnered with Google. You use their search bar to do your searches and they will give you 50% of the revenue they get from Google for that search. This normally works out at around 3p per search. This sounded too good to be true so I thought id try it out…

I use the search function on my FireFox tool bar to search Google all the time when im working, so I thought it cant do me any harm using the new search bar and get paid when I do my searches. The paid search bar searches Google and comes up with the same results as it would if you used the normal Google search. Read more
